Sentinel 8 Way Sound Level Monitor

Designed for use where noise levels need to be monitored in several different locations, the Sentinel offers the basic functionality of 8 separate noise limiters with a simple front panel (just warning and limit LEDs) and flexible outputs to control other devices.

The Sentinel has provision for the connection of up to 8 microphones, each microphone channel has a limit which can be set independently and a warning at 3db below the limit.

When the sound level is 3dB below the limit a yellow LED on the front panel illuminates and a relay, with connections on the rear panel, operates. If the limit is exceeded for 20 seconds the channel trips illuminating a red LED on the front panel and operating another relay with connections on the rear panel. The warning LED and relay operate only when the sound level is 3dB below the limit and go off when the level drops back below the warning level. The limit LED and relay remain on even if the sound level drops back below the limit. Only when the corresponding reset button on the front panel is pushed is the limit LED and relay reset.

The warning and limit relay connections are isolated contacts which can be used to operate other devices, for example an indicator next to the microphone or a mains contactor to switch off noisy equipment. The limit for each microphone can be set anywhere in the range 70dB to 125dB and the weighting is internally selectable as linear, A, C or Bass. The unit is built into a 19 inch rack mount case 3RU height. There are 8 horizontally spaced sections on the front panel, one for each input (microphone). Each section has a recessed level setting adjuster, warning & limit LEDs and a reset button. The rear panel houses the mains input connector, 8 XLR inputs for the microphones and connections for the warning and limit relay outputs.

An additional cost option facillitates recording of the audio monitored by the microphones via 8 x RCA phono sockets on the rear panel.
