Kenwood KSBSDX20 American-Style Fridge Freezer - Display Actual Temperature Inside


After recently buying a Kenwood American style fridge / freezer, we've discovered a useful undocumented feature.


The Issue

The temperature readout on a Kenwood KSBSDX20 American-Style Fridge Freezer only displays the desired temperature setting and there is no way to know the actual temperature inside the fridge or freezer compartments.

Resolution

Pressing the 'Menu' button for 10 seconds temporarily displays the actual temperature of the fridge and freezer compartments. This feature does not appear to be mentioned in any manual.

It is very useful tool for checking whether your Kenwood KSBSDX20 American-Style Fridge Freezer (and probably other Kenwood models) is working properly.

In fact, it shows that the temperature does fluctuate significantly. Some other fridge / freezers keep the fans running permanently and, although this makes them more noisy (tenuous link to our core business), it does keep the temperature throughout the unit steadier as it helps to prevent the hot air rising to the top of the compartment.
