SPL-5TS Audio Level Guard

The Dateq SPL5-TS is a microcontroller controlled audio level guard with microphone, 3 timeslots for different sound level settings and internal data storage for up to 64 days. It has an interface for the connection of the SPL-D2 external decibel level display (click here for details).

The SPL5 monitors the audio level by means of a microphone; the microcontroller continuously measures the microphone level and attenuates the output level as much as necessary to keep the sound level below your given threshold.

The SPL5 can be used in live situations to monitor the sound level produced by a live band and cut off the mains voltage if the level exceeds acceptable limits. An optical indication can be provided to the band. In a non-live situation, where recorded music is played over the PA equipment, the SPL5 is connected after the mixer and before the amplifiers. It uses the microphone to determine the audio level and attenuates the output level when required.

New to the Dateq SPL5-TS is the ability to store the sound level data and event history over a period of two months. Thus the SPL-TS acts as a decibel datalogger as well as a limiter. The limiter's memory can be read out using the PC based software supplied. Configuring the limiter is done with the same software but before changes can be made the software has to be registered; this makes it impossible for an unauthorised person to alter the limiters configuration. The PC software makes it possible to control the limiter over a computer network or the internet.
